Spring Sprung

Yesterday was gorgeous and the city was filled with heel clicking, t-shirt donning youngins' looking to rub up against each other last night. I went with my friend Nathan to a restaurant that's been on my list for over a year now - Graffiti. Small, communal tables, much more cozy and worn-in than the pictures on the web suggest. As we hadn't caught up in ages, our conversation could have easily trumped the food. But we had to pause our banter a few times to savor and sigh over the pickled ginger scallops with candied red chili sauce, the light yet savory pork buns and then those burger sliders. Hmm, Hmm, Hmm. Nice start to the evening.

We then headed over to Nublu for a Taylor McFerrin set. Taylor has been on my radar for years but I'd never seen him live, which I am ashamed to say. He was in Buenos Aires a few months back, but we weren't able to connect. The venue was perfect for him last night - tight and intimate with maybe 2" between performer and audience. The way his mouth moved to make the sounds you hear on his tracks was unbelievable. I found myself edging closer to figure out exactly how he does it - inhaling in and out, filling his cheeks and exhaling through clenched teeth. I don't know, much much more to it I am sure. I'll definitely be checking him again.

Today is another gorgeous day - 70 degress - and the weekend promises to follow suit. If you are in town, check out Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene maƱana.

Be blessed today.
